Widerstrom was born August 24, 1982 in Downers Grove, Illinois to Lynn and Norm Widerstrom. Though Widerstrom was born in Downers Grove she was raised in Lisle. While her pals swooned over boy band posters, as a kid growing up in Chicago, Widerstrom adored fitness icons Arnold Schwarzenegger and Franco Columbu. The pint-size weightlifter told Muscle and Fitness Magazine her childhood hero was Conan the Barbarian: "I also told the teacher I wanted to be Ms. Olympia seven times because Arnold had won Mr. Olympia seven times," she said. "I was eight years old. My teacher had no idea what I was talking about ... I didn't have boy band posters — I had posters of Arnold, Kevin Levrone, and Lenda Murray."
While attending Naperville North High School, she participated in gymnastics, track and diving. It wasn't until her mid-20s that she dedicated herself to fitness. She moved to the Los Angeles area around 2008 for American Gladiators. She later became a group fitness instructor. That turned into a few private training gigs, which turned into a private training business, which turned into appearances on “Access Hollywood Live.”
“I love people and connecting with them,” Widerstrom said. “I think I'm very good at helping people find their way. I chose fitness and health as a way to do it. This show offers me a platform and place to reach them.”
Widerstrom is extremely attractive and isn't married, but that doesn't mean she hasn't been asked. In an interview with 11 Points, she dished, "I have no real preference physically on the men I date. I of course prefer someone that shares a more active lifestyle like myself, but when it comes down to it 24/7 abs are for the birds... I'm way more into chemistry and comedy. As for the fans... I'd have to say that the very flattering marriage requests are attention getters every time."
